Los Altos' Voyageur du Temps closes

Uploaded: Oct 11, 2018

Voyageur du Temps has closed after four-and-a-half years of serving French and Japanese pastries in Los Altos.

The 288 1st St. bakery closed on Sept. 18, according to a brief Facebook post.

Owner Rie Rubin did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Rubin, a Portola Valley resident who's originally from Japan, converted what was a 1913 train station into the high-end, modern bakery. Two chefs from Tokyo who trained in France could often be seen rolling croissants and making other pastries behind a glassed-in open kitchen.

Voyageur served breads, baguettes, croissants, tarts, breakfast and lunch dishes, coffee and tea.
