Palo Alto takes to Twitter for outreach

Mayor, city manager to answer residents' questions Monday at city's first Twitter Q&A

Palo Alto Mayor Yiaway Yeh and City Manager James Keene will answer questions in 140 characters or less Monday as part of the city's latest effort to reach out to the community.

The city will hold its first ever Twitter Q&A at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27. The 30-minute event, facilitated by the city's Chief Information Officer Jonathan Reichental, will allow city residents, business owners and anyone else with a Twitter account to pose questions for Yeh and Keene.

Registered Twitter users can submit questions by using the hashtag #AskMayorYeh. To watch the stream of questions and answers, Twitter users can either follow the city's Twitter account, @cityofpaloalto, or type #AskMayorYeh into Twitter's search or discover boxes.

The city is also soliciting feedback from residents about using Twitter for community outreach. Comments can be emailed to city.manager@cityofpaloalto.org.
