A masked man wielding a handgun robbed a 7-Eleven store in Midtown early Wednesday morning, Palo Alto police said.

The robbery occurred at about midnight at the 7-Eleven at 708 Colorado Ave. The Police Department received a call at about 12:08 a.m. from the store clerk, reporting that the store has just been robbed. The man allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded money. The clerk, a man in his 20s, complied with the request. The man then ran out of the store and was last seen running east on Colorado, police said.

There were no customers at the store at the time of the robbery.

The robber was described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He wore a white hooded sweatshirt with a red T-shirt over it, black pants, black shoes and black gloves. He also wore a black ski mask that obscured his face, police said. The victim described the weapon as a black semi-automatic handgun.
