Man arrested at Palo Alto church for making sexual comments to children

Police charge Burlingame resident after incident at All Saints Episcopal Church

A man who allegedly made sexual comments to middle school students at a downtown Palo Alto church was arrested Thursday evening, police said.

Police arrested Kenneth Edward Schwartz, 64, after an employee at the All Saints Episcopal Church overheard him making sexual comments to a group of four boys who were walking past the courtyard bench where Schwartz was sitting. The church employee called the police, who arrived at the Waverley Street church shortly after 7 p.m. and detained the suspect.

Schwartz, of Burlingame, was charged with one count of misdemeanor annoying/molesting children, though police noted that he did not touch any of the children. Police later received information that suggested Schwartz may have also made inappropriate sexual comments to a group of middle school girls at the same event. That investigation is ongoing, police said.
