Two men allegedly stole two cases of beer from a Palo Alto 7-Eleven and then used a Taser-like weapon to ward off employees while fleeing the scene.

The burglary occurred late Wednesday night at the 7-Eleven at 708 Colorado Ave., police said. The men allegedly drove to the convenience store at about 11:20 p.m. and then parked their sedan at a nearby lot. Two of the four people in the car then reportedly got out of the vehicle and went to the store.

Police said one of the two passengers then struck up a conversation with a store employee who was outside, taking a break. The other passenger went inside the 7-Eleven, took two cases of beer and ran out of the store, with two other employees pursuing him, police said.

Then all three employees began to chase the two men back to the vehicle, the man who stayed outside took out what police called a "Taser-like weapon" and fired it, causing the electricity to act, police said. The employees stopped chasing them and the two men returned to the car and drove off east on Colorado.

The man who fired the weapon was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with a thin build and short black hair. Police said he was clean shaven and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The man who ran out with the beer was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, khaki shorts and black tennis shoes. The car was described as a black sedan.
