A man who Palo Alto police said tried to burglarize a Crescent Park home Thursday morning was arrested after a 90-minute manhunt that concluded when the suspect was found hiding under a mobile home in East Palo Alto.

Police arrested 19-year-old Daniel Marteese Williams, of East Palo Alto, after catching him in a mobile-home park on the 1800 block of Woodland Avenue, according to a Palo Alto police news release. He booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for residential burglary and resisting arrest.

Police said Williams was busted while trying to burglarize a home on the 2000 block of Edgewood Drive, in Palo Alto's Crescent Park neighborhood. A housecleaner reportedly caught him climbing into an open window from the home's backyard. She yelled and informed the homeowner, a man in his 40s, who found Williams hiding in his backyard, police said. Upon being spotted, Williams allegedly hopped a fence and fled the scene. Police said he didn't have a chance to take anything from the house because of the housekeeper's interference.

The homeowner called the police and, within eight minutes, officers spotted the man fitting the given description walking on Woodland Avenue and West Bayshore Road in East Palo Alto, according to the news release. When officers tried to stop him, he allegedly fled toward the mobile-home park on Woodland. Police said witnesses reported seeing a man climbing fences in the area.

Palo Alto and East Palo Alto police officers then searched the area and at around 11:04 a.m. found Williams hiding under a mobile home, police said. Williams was taken into custody without incident. Police are investigating whether he is connected to any other residential burglaries in and around Palo Alto.
