Palo Alto police are looking for two men who on Sept. 26 burglarized a home on Roosevelt Circle and made off with three laptop computers, jewelry and other items.

Surveillance cameras indicated that the burglary occurred at about 9 a.m. that morning, when the residents were not at home. The victims, a woman in her 40s and her husband, learned about the burglary later that afternoon and called police.

Footage of the incident showed the first of the two men riding a bicycle down the home's driveway. He then leaves the bicycle in the backyard and walks away on foot. A little while later, the second suspect walks up and enters the home through an unlocked door in the backyard.

Police described both suspects as light-skinned males in their 20s. The first man was wearing black pants, a yellow shirt, a black and gray sweatshirt and a white hat. The second man was wearing red basketball shorts and a black tank top. The bike was a black mountain bike with white lettering, a suspension fork, disc brakes and red handlebars, police said.

Though the footage suggests that there are two suspects, police are also investigating the possibility that only one man was involved and that he discarded his outer clothing to change his appearance between the time he dropped off the bicycle and the time he returned to burglarize the homes.

Police said in addition to the laptops and jewelry, the burglars made off with "miscellaneous personal property," although they did not specify what those items were.

According to police, there have been 69 residential burglaries reported this year. The number has been dropping every year since 2012.
