Palo Alto police are expecting traffic delays downtown between noon and 6 p.m. when students from local high schools take to the streets during a peace march.
A group of Palo Alto High School students have organized a walk-out and demonstration for Tuesday afternoon in response to last week's presidential election results. Paly students will walk from campus at 2 p.m. to Lytton Plaza in downtown Palo Alto, where they will join students from Gunn High School, Castilleja School and Stanford University at 2:30 p.m.
Folk singer and longtime activist Joan Baez and retired Superior Court judge LaDoris Cordell are expected to take part in the demonstration.
"The goal of this peace march is to spread messages of love, unity, acceptance and equality" -- it's not about the president-elect specifically, a news release from organizers states. It is also open to all, regardless of political affiliation.
Stanford University students are also organizing a "People's Walkout" and march Tuesday afternoon, emphasizing "healing, resilience, and community building," an event description reads.

Who is not for love and unity? Only the haters, who will be swayed by these marchers. Time to turn focus to health care, trade, immigration, and taxes.

This was the most disgusting, divisive presidential campaign and created more misery, hate and fear. It's over, but this can never, ever happen again. The incoming administration has the responsibility to set a tone of healing and restore mutual respect.

Nothing will bring more people over to your side of thinking like a good traffic jam!

So impressed with the students who have organized this. I am glad they will all be voting in a few years. They restore some of my optimism about tolerance and inclusion.

Where were these peace marchers when Obama (with the advice of Secretary of State Clinton) extended and occasionally escalated the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, instigated new proxy wars in Libya, Ukraine, and Syria, and started a new cold war with Russia?

This encourages anarchy. What happens when people stop obeying law enforcement? [Portion removed.]

I couldn't be there because of work, but would've loved to see the Vikings air-band Isley Brothers' Caravan of Love. Watch 4m00s onward from their music video: Web Link
When's the next peace rally?

The PAUSD may lose FEDERAL FUNDING of Education if more students are allowed to leave classes to march in ANY form or reason. That is a fact, not conjecture.
