Man is reportedly in 'critical but stable' condition

East Palo Alto police are investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition Friday evening.

Police were alerted to the incident by the ShotSpotter gunshot-detective system, according to a news release issued Saturday from the East Palo Alto Police Department. Shortly after 6 p.m., officers arrived in the 800 block of Schembri Lane and found a vehicle with the man inside, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso area.

Witnesses reportedly saw a silver four-door sedan speeding away from the area.

The injured man, a 29-year-old from San Jose, was taken to a local hospital where he was listed as in critical but stable condition, according to the news release. Police said on Monday that he remains in stable condition.
