Public Agenda: Expansion of city's fiber-optic network; new fire station design

Here's a preview of Palo Alto government meetings happening the week of July 31.

CITY COUNCIL ... The council is on its summer break. Its next meeting will be on Aug. 7.

BOARD OF EDUCATION ... The board is on its summer break. Its next meeting will be on Aug. 22.

ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD ... The board plans to discuss facade changes for Arhaus Furniture at Stanford Shopping Center and consider the design of the new fire station at 3600 Middlefield Road, which will replace the existing Fire Station 4. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave. Those wishing to participate by Zoom can do so by dialing 669-900-6833 and using Meeting ID: 965 6189 1491.

How about Palo Alto focus on getting the electric and other existing utilities underground instead of trying to expensive competition with private internet providers?
