The Cambridge Avenue building that houses the Domino's Pizza was singed on Tuesday afternoon by a fire that broke out near the hood and spread through the ceiling.

The fire at 250 Cambridge Ave. was reported at about 3:20 p.m. Within 10 minutes, Palo Alto firefighters had arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames, limiting the damage and preventing the building from being fully engulfed.

Meninder Singh, manager at Domino’s, said the fire appears to have originated near the exhaust hood and was spreading along the ceiling when he left the building. He said he quickly left the building after being alerted by someone else about the fire.

"There was a lot of fire at the top," Singh said.

With smoke coming out of the building, fire crews went inside with a hose and snuffed out the fire before it spread to other portions of the building, though the extent of the damage wasn’t immediate clear.
