Arraignment in Palo Alto court today

Kenneth Fitzhugh, the real estate developer charged with the murder of his wife in their Southgate neighborhood home, will be arraigned in a Palo Alto courthouse today at 1:30 p.m.

Fitzhugh, 56, has been held without bail at the county jail in San Jose since Friday, when he was arrested by police and charged in the May 5 slaying of Kristine Fitzhugh, a music teacher in the Palo Alto school district.

The arraignment will be before Judge Charles Hayden in Department 84 of Superior Court at the North County Courthouse, 270 Grant Ave.

Friday night, about 80 people attended a community meeting held by police to answer questions about the case. Police provided no new information following the Friday afternoon news conference where Fitzhugh's arrest was announced, but many in the audience at the evening meeting expressed relief that an arrest had been made.
