How about resorting these posts

Original post made by Bystander, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Oct 23, 2006

Future Palo Alto Resident had a good idea. How about resorting the postings in this Forum when a new posting has been made. It is obvious that once a thread is on the second page, many people don't read them anymore and it would be good if the latest posting brought that thread straight to the top of the list. This way we could see some of the more interesting postings being resurfaced when something happens to make someone want to make a comment without starting a brand new thread.

I'm quite embarassed by this, actually: After my posting I tried the "GO TO MESSAGE BOARD VIEW" link and it did the behavior you described. The active postings with comments are at the top of the list.

Not very obvious, I know, but it seems to work. This should be the default view, in my opinion!

That's the tip of the day :)

Thanks for the info. This is much more helpful, I wish I had found it ages ago. I wonder why it hasn't been explained better before, I am sure others haven't found it yet.

Actually, the comments should indeed be sorted most recent first; for
me to read comments I haven't read I need to scan every topic. This is
a problem for both the message view and also the RSS feed, which only provides new threads (topics), not new posts or comments to existing threads or topics.

Sorry, what I meant was, "the comments should indeed be sorted most recent first; for me to read comments I haven't read I need to scan every post or comment in the topic or thread.
