Isn't the point of a license plate to make a car distinguishable? If an individual is worried about their plate being distinguished somewhere, then obviously they must have something to hide. Owning a car is not something we have to do, but something we choose to do, and obeying the law that demands a unique plate on each car is part of the process. It is like a contract which we agree to when we pay for the plate on purchase of the car.

And, I think this is a great idea. If all the cars in a certain street were known when a crime was committed, then there is a good place to start looking for the criminals.

And anyway, when we park in PA parking lots, there is a man with a machine taking all the plate numbers to check on time limits every day. This would probably make his job easier too.
