Hope someone has told them about the proposed 2800 ABAG units for Fabian/Meadow.

Staff development seems to be a big deal already, and yet
more school days going to staff development?
more relying on substitute teachers who just got a raise?
Teachers "want" more staff development to reach goals. have goals changed SO much?
In times of budget constraints, would that not include teachers also doing the best with the qualifications they have?
Is this saying that the priorities this year are figuring out how to redraw boundaries (how long could that take?), and developing staff because when they were surveyed, that's what they said they wanted? If you asked them again today, would that be as important?
Missing: Where are the priorities that could help students this year?
On staff development, I recall this story
"Sporting brightly colored feathers in their hair, 22 teachers from the Palo Alto Unified School District are leaping, clapping, hopping and making bird sounds....".

I look forward to a story about exactly where staff development money is going to, and be able to trace it to my chidlren's lives while they are still in the system.

Where is the priority to make sure all our current teachers actually instruct students in a meaningful and respectful way? As great as most of our teachers are, there are MANY who stopped trying years ago and are merely putting in time.

Musical education is part of the stated curriculum in the district. I don't see a huge issue with being informed ahead of time about a musical performance so that your class gets the greatest amount of benefit from a field trip.
The article is quite specific about the goals--95 percent of the kids at grade level or above on the tests. I hadn't heard before--perhaps someone else knows--that that level of performance was specified.
