Way to look up property owner?

Original post made by resident, Professorville, on Jan 22, 2009

Does anyone know if there's a way to look up the owner of a property? As far as I can tell from Santa Clara County's website, some info like assessed value is available free online, names of buyers of property transferred in the past 2 years is available at the Assessor's office for a fee, but I don't see a way to identify the owner of property at a given address who's owned it for over 2 years.

Get the parcel number and look up the recorded owner at Web Link

You can find the parcel number by looking at the address as www.scctax.org or looking at official tract maps.

I did this and was surprised to find that many homes in my neighborhood are rented out to families with kids, but almost no property taxes are paid.

resident,

Good luck. Even if you do discover the "owner" of a parituclar property, you may need to hire a private investigator in order to figure out who acutally owns the cut-out company that provides cover for the real owner.

Palo Alto is slowly being bought out by purchasing-agent schemes.

Call up a title company, give them an address, they should give you the owner of record.
