I shop in that store all the time.
I am afraid I have a problem with drug pushers and manufacturers, and a double-problem with those who provide meth. I, of course, want a fair and honest trial for ths gentleman, but if he is indeed guilty of selling meth, I would positively prefer that he never see the outside of a jail cell again. Meth is pure evil, it destroys lives, and those who provide it are pure evil as well, destroying the lives of young kids.
When I first heard about how bad meth was, I thought "Yeah, sure, ridiculous scare-tacrics to get kids to stay away." Then I did some research, and yeah, it is REALLY that bad, really. It's horrible stuff. I find it hard to be sympathetic for the pushers of it.

To just me,
As wrong as it is. Or how bad this drug dealer was. You cant call them drug pushers. These guys don't push drugs on the users. Not like in those Nancy Reagan era ''Just say No'' commercials. They just supply the demand.
For some people. That might not have been graced, with a great education, and are forced to work at jobs. That barley provide enough income. To keep you out of poverty. The temptation to make a quick buck is hard to resist.
The best thing to do is to continue to educate the public of it's dangers. And provide help and intervention with counseling and treatment. To help the users better themselves.
Less of a demand will equal less dealers. Who are willing to take the risk.

I wonder if Safeway does background checks on their new hires. Although, not every criminal has been arrested, or has a record, but it would help to run a background check on ALL employees. Does anyone know what Safeway's hiring policy is.
Working in Corporate Staffing, in the high-tech industry, we run background checks on everyone.

With the partial shutdown, before his trial our Governor would have legalized meth to help fix the budget.

I would sure hope so, but at nearly 100 dollars a pop just for a DOJ life scan, when all is said and done, it seems rather pricey and pointless to scan all employees. Drug testing would be cheaper and easier, but even then is probably not done. Having had a ton of friends work in the food industry in both restaurants and grocery stores i can say that the drug usage and selling/buying, is extremely high.

Background testing misses a lot of potential criminals. I don't have the exact numbers, but according to the National Association of Fraud Examiners, around 80% of the employees of businesses known(reported) to have experienced employee fraud had no prior criminal charges or convictions, and around 50% had a High School education or less. The educational component is eye opening enough, especially here in California where we are facing a crisis in post-secondary education funding.
These numbers indicate that background testing is not enough. To really screen potential employees, businesses need to do behavioral assessments, and drug AND alcohol screening. Sounds expensive until you look at the numbers for losses incurred by employers due to employee theft and fraud. All these costs get passed on to, you guessed it, the consumer.

i think drugs are bad and kill people but they should leave people alone if thats how they live there life, look now they are legalizing marihuana if all drugs or meth helps people to make them feel better, and those people that sell it well its never going to stop, because is a chain around this world.some people buy it some people take pills to make there body happy. Also that safeway in menlo park,ca doesnt check or do a background check for all the employees what are they thinking the store manager is not doing his job or what.
