Town Square

iGot! Apple devotees get their reward

Original post made on Apr 3, 2010

The mood at Apple's University Avenue store in Palo Alto was celebratory at 9 a.m. Saturday as Apple customers rushed into the store to get their hands on the game-changing company's newest product, the iPad. Robert Scoble waited in line 22 hours and was the first to exit the store with his "new toy." Photo by Vivian Wong/Palo Alto Online.

So were there more journalists or more customers at this event?

[Portion removed due to disrespectful comment.] Holding their purchase above their heads as if they had just won a gold medal or something. Seems very insecure.

I'll wait a few months, after they work out the "bugs" and then buy one.
Never buy the first version.

i have always used Mac computers, I have 4 iPods and generally love Apple products, but camping outside the Apple store overnight seems like lunacy to me.

I say live and let live...we all have our interests...it seems harmless to me that they chose to spend them time camping out for something they were excited about...

The PAPD get enough heat as it is. I think it is great that they allowed the campers to have some fun.

Can anyone post a vid of Jobs at the store? I can't find one.

Vicctor begging for 100 bucks in booze money - bad....... 100's of ham brains dumping a grand each and sales tax slice to city - good... They would have spent that money AND paid the ticket as well.....

Seems fairly harmless to me if they enjoy the excitement.
Better than spending hours watching a man hit a ball with a stick, which is what most mens sports are about; or maybe attacking each other. That's better?
At least the ipad is a real accomplishment.
