574 Arastradero Road? ...is where my family was living 40 years ago in 1970. Then when I was 11 years old HUD or whoever made our family move from here, tore our house down with a bulldozer and built that... apartment complex.

We were already a "low or moderate income" family of 5 kids.

And just when I was so very busy playing another year of little league baseball for Tony Scott, looking forward to being in Mr. Solakian's 6th grade class at LOMA VISTA...Go Eagles! Beat Barron Park!, KATHY JENSEN, Loma Vista music, crossing guard duty, handicap care training, playing pick up baseball and football and playing on the train and the swings at the park with my friends every day, BILLY MONROE, A&W Root beer! Fire Station #5! waking the creek and going to the old Barrel, The Terman Pool, riding Matadero hill, the orchard, climbing trees, Parks and Rec., My Best friend Gary Cable....

ALL gone!!!

Thanks to the Housing Corporation.

PAHC should NOT be celebrated! It steals money from market rate residents to provide welfare housing to their neighbors, without any choice. It is a very real example of taxation without representation...there was a revolution fought over that issue a couple of centuries ago.

Welfare neighbors can have a very detrimental effect on market rate residents. They have a tendency to ignore upkeep and they uniformly oppose community dues to keep up the larger housing complex, as in condominium fees. They are a real drag on our community, in general.

Most people now realize that BMR units are not used by essential Palo Alto workers. That was just a BIG LIE that PAHC put forward in order to pave the way for welfare housing.

PAHC essentially steals the federal grant that Palo Alto is awarded each year. That money could go towards fixing our streets and sidewalks, thus decreasing our city budget debt.

It is time to end PAHC, and make them apologize to all of us.

An excellent case of wasted effort and opportunity. Pension everyone off and erect a statue.

"In 1970 Palo Alto's housing prices had just started an upward curve that ultimately reached near-orbital heights.

The original idea was to seek ways to build housing or subsidize the rising rents to maintain at least some low- or moderate-income residents in the community, including a large number of older persons being forced out of town by housing costs."

What a load.. there were already plenty of low- or moderate-income residents in the community!

I remember the high rise apartment building next door seemed filled to the top with elderly folks... there were the old folks in the house across the street and the old folks that lived next door on Arastradero and behind the high rise on Maybell, I remember them.. they didn't like me cutting through their orchard from my house to the park so I almost always went around. I remember my classmates at Loma Vista from 1968-1973 and they weren't "rich" kids, ..one of my friends then was a kid named "Jesus" from a few doors down towards El Camino, he spoke English ok but no one else in his family could yet and they definitely would have been considered... low or medium income residents.

An apology from these greedy developer sob's would be great but, they could never apologize enough for what they've done.
