Parts of Dumbarton Bridge closing for retrofit

As part of the seismic retrofit of the Dumbarton Bridge, Thursday night (April 7) workers started installing steel plates on west- and eastbound lanes of the bridge connecting Menlo Park with Fremont. The installations will require some lane closures on weeknights and weekends.

"The speed limit on the 1.6-mile-long bridge will remain at 65 mph." The speed limit on the Dumbarton Bridge is 55 mph, ...although very few people know that.

If you go 55 on the bridge you need a ramp on your car so speeders can drive over you. I hope people slow down during the construction, but they won't unless the CHP does some directed enforcement.
