How small the world! I met Mr. Webster when he
worked with my late parents, Isaac and Joann Stevenson and
with my Auntie Barbara (Mouton) on issues pertaining to the
EPA Senior Center! I also had the honor of spending time getting
To know (and love) Prof Ivor Winters after his wife came to Ravenswood
High School to help us organize a writing/poetry club in 1965. We even produced an
end of the year journal. Prof Janet Winters, also
a Stanford professor of literature, wrote the book "The Third Wife of
Martin Guerre" that would be turned into an opera and performed in
Paris, where Mrs. Winters had studied and worked. Amazing the
connections! I have lived in Paris since 1997
and plan to be front and center when Mr. Webster's opera is
performed here Thursday, June 20th. There will be (at least) two East Palo
residents in the audience that night!

Ricki - how fabulous for you! Please post after the opera & let us know what you thought. Dr. Webster is a treasure. He is multi-talented and deeply caring, kind and thoughtful. I was so thrilled to read about the opera debut that I gave the article to my mother to read.
Dr. Webster's cultural & lingual gifts are matched by his deep care & concern for the poor, the struggling & the disenfranchised. He is an inspiration in so many ways. I am so happy that his opera is being performed and that it's so delightful for him!
