The article said the person was a man, not a student.
I wonder how many of these suicides are copycats due to the heavy media coverage? Sometimes everyone dwelling on suicide just puts the idea into the heads of mentally fragile people.

My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Our children graduated from Gunn and both lost a friend to suicide in 2009-2010.

So sorry to hear this. My sympathies to his family and friends.
This man would have been in Paly when there were 2 suicides.
Every death on Caltrain tracks is a life lost, a family suffers, regardless of the cause of the depression.

Another PAUSD alum/student on the tracks. The tracks are now the GG bridge. Why isn't it fenced properly yet. City Council, do something!! I understand this was MV -- that's got to happen also but let's get Palo Alto done and reduce the access to lethal means. Should have been done 5 years ago thanks for fiddling Nero.

You can fence as much as you want, but the fact remains that every crossing and every station provides direct access. This will also be true if the powers that be decide to tunnel, trench or elevate - there will always be access points.

Y'all can stop blaming the train. Ground level freight and passenger rail crisscrosses the entire planet. It's time to address mental illness first and foremost.

These suicides are a great tragedy, and I agree that treating mental illness should be greatly improved and more access provided for everyone.
I also feel deep sympathy for the train employees. It must be very difficult to see someone on the tracks and not be able to stop, especially if it happens to them more than once. I hope they get huge amounts of counseling and support.

After riding Caltrain for more than 20 years (not every day/week), I had to experience the chaos during the rush hour commute from San Francisco to San Jose for the first time. One life was gone, but I noticed that riders were acting like nothing had happened or that event was "normal" every other month? Very sad. R.I.P. Daniel Snyder, regardless of his reasons to do his transition, God is his witness, but Caltrain should take advantage of new technology to satellite human beings on their premises (tracks) and send signals to train conductors to stop those kind of tragedies and safe lives for future mental treatments.

Danny was a friend, and a great person. I hadn't talked to him in a while, but I'm heartbroken about what happened.
We must grade separate these tracks. It's a walking invitation for trouble to have a train running at 80 mph at grade level through our community. We'll never know if that would have stopped Danny or any of the other fellow Paly grads from stepping in front of a train, but I have to think it would have helped.
It's too late to do anything for Danny, but I will do everything in my power to keep others out of the way of the train.
