Burglary suspect arrested after standoff in Palo Alto home

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man who barricaded himself in a home on the 900 block of Elsinore Drive in Palo Alto, following a police pursuit Monday afternoon.

They used Palo Alto's SWAT Team.

Santa Clara County helped out with some equipment.

@Info, yes the SWAT team is not from the county. The bomb squad was. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you to our awesome Palo Alto Police Department for resolving this situation "cleanly!"

While it doesn't appear to be an issue in this case (though it could have been and simply was not significant enough to report), remember that a neighbor's barking dog may be due to a would-be intruder. Sometimes dogs bark at the squirrels, but don't discount the possibility that they may be barking at an unfamiliar scent/presence. Love your neighbor's dogs, they just might be helping to keep your home safe.

Am I the only one who thinks that SWAT is a little overboard for a burglar? Isn't the risk of someone getting killed hurt etc etc more than the need to catch someone stealing material objects?
