Bowersmith named Athletic Performance coach at Paly

Spencer Bowersmith seems to have quite a thirst for knowledge in the field of strength and conditioning. The new Palo Alto High Athletic Performance coach has spent the past 11 years working to improve his craft, both as a personal trainer and conditioning coach.

This is a newly created position, correct? Is this money coming from the district or Boosters? If the district, why would they lay off staff to save money, and then turn around and hire an Athletic Performance coach? If it's Boosters paying his salary, why do they always claim poverty when they're asking for money every season and then go out and hire an Athletic Performance coach?
Seems like the athletes are performing quite well.
