Compadres was a fun restaurant and I was sorry to see it close. I was hoping a similar restaurant would open there, but I guess they never found a tenant for that space. Who knows now what will happen to the building after the fire?

Yes it was...especially during the late 1980s. I imagine some new housing development will replace it.

In retrospect...the 1980s were the best times for bars & drinking in the Menlo Park/Palo Alto area.

Henry's, 42nd Street, Rose & Crown, Rudy's Pub, + Emerson Street Bar & Rrill in downtown PA.

The Winery, Talbot's, Antonio's Nut House on California Avenue.

Compadres, Class Reunion, Old Pro's on ECR.

BBC, The Oasis, Chili's on ECR in Menlo Park.

I yearn for the good old days when PA/Menlo Park were alcohol central.

Mixed-use development.

It's only been undergoing permitting and plan approvals since 2014...
