Wow. Things have changed.
When I was a youngster, Fremont High in Sunnyvale was a powerhouse SCVAL football team from a primarily working class community while Gunn was a weenie football team whose student body was comprised mostly of white-upper middle class kids more concerned with smoking pot.
Then again the powerful Fremont team was known as The Indians (non-PC today) and there were fewer minorities residing in the community. Back then it was mostly white and Hispanic, similar to the old Mountain View High School on Castro Street which also had a very good football team.
I suspect that the ethnic diversity of the local high schools have changed as few East Indians and Chinese have an interest in playing prep football and are more focused on getting into MIT or an Ivy League University.

@the ethnic diversity of the local high schools have changed as few East Indians and Chinese have an interest in playing prep football and are more focused on getting into MIT or an Ivy League University.
@there are different ethnicities on these teams now, including Chinese.
I have tried to encourage my son to play prep sports in addition to his outside interests in math and robotics, but he is apprehensive and afraid of getting injured.
This angers me at times because his attitude lacks a certain element of masculinity, a stereotype that many Asians are trying to overcome.
So I tell him to at least learn some martial arts instead. No reply or interest on his part.
He is becoming a weenie and this will not fare well when he is an adult.
I have tried to get him into playing lacrosse but he is afraid of getting hit with the stick so I bought him a mouth guard. No success as his pro-series lacrosse stick sits in the garage collecting dust.
At this point, I would rather see him join the Marines than aspire towards getting into Harvard.

* Football is a team sport, with positions for everyone.
In high school, maybe. At the higher level (i.e. college and the NFL), the little guys will be relegated to placekicker and many of them (former soccer players) don't even speak English.
Which means that someday a woman placekicker will become a first in the NFL.
As for playing defensive end or offensive tackle, transgender rules will have to be lightened.
