Help Children in Ukraine

Original post made by Jeannet Kiessling, Southgate, on Feb 25, 2022

Russia’s invasion, military action and massive breach of international law has brought great hardship to Ukraine. Children - especially orphans and homeless children - already bore a heavy burden in this developing nation. With this invasion, the burden has expanded exponentially. There will be a shortage of food and basic supplies soon. Also, it is still very cold in Ukraine, and the need for warm clothing and shelter for refugees is increasing.

Neighbors Abroad’s European Committee has begun a campaign to help ease some of the dire consequences of the invasion to vulnerable children. Partnering with the European children’s organization “kleine herzen” (small hearts),a branch of which is located in our German sister city Heidelberg, Neighbors Abroad begun to raise money to fund already established projects caring for these Ukrainian children.

Thank you Jeannet for your leadership on this initiative. I hope it gets picked up by the Palo Alto Weekly sharing how local organizations are mobilizing to support.

As of this morning (Feb 26) we have raised $5,000. A drop in the bucket, but providing resources as support will be needed.
