New handyman service helps seniors age in place

Great that Eric & family remain community-minded. Hope they are able to succeed at this endeavor. It's not easy to balance quality work, affordable prices, and honest, skilled workers.

I have an issue with this being a benefit for seniors. I recently called Hassett's handyman service to have someone replace the mechanism inside my toilet tank. I had done it years ago but didn't want to figure out how to do it again. I was quoted a FEE of $350 plus parts (2 hours at $140/hour + a $75 service + the cost of the part). I was shocked. Instead, I went to the store, bought the part, and replaced it myself. I reported to the clerk who helped me find the part that I thought the quoted fee was outrageous, and he agreed with me and said others felt the same. $140 per hour is a service to seniors? I guess. Maybe in this affluent community.

There are indeed wealthy people in Palo Alto. I worked for 32 years and have a monthly income of $2300. I cannot and will not pay that outrageous amount of money for a handyman especially the ones who are from Agendas (which they are). They are not good; the good one retired and the other one moved to Maine.
