I am disappointed that without discussion, and under the covers of a consent technicality, some members of the city council pushed through a five-year sweetheart deal with SWA Services Group of Santa Clara. This deal needs proper consideration to determine whether it is in the best interests of Palo Alto residents or whether it's a giveaway to special interests.

Echoing Steven Hardy above.
"New agreement with SWA, which raises costs by 39%, is the city's first under stricter labor standards,"
With a 39% increase, maybe they won't need to rip off their workers. Seriously, what type of message is the City Council sending?
