Stanford Cancer Center: A Wonderful Resource

Original post made by Terri, breast cancer survivor, Old Palo Alto, on May 31, 2006

I'd like to alert cancer patients and their families to a wonderful resource in our community: the Stanford Cancer Center. It offers a range of programs, free of charge, to cancer patients and their families. You don't have to be affiliated with Stanford or Stanford doctors to participate in the programs. The programs offered include yoga, art, and writing classes, Healing Touch (a kind of energy work), guided imagery, support groups, and many other kinds of services and information. I've personally participated in several of their offerings and found them quite beneficial. I just can't say enough good things about these programs, which amazingly are free and accessible to all! Call 650-723-4268 for more information, or google "Stanford Cancer Center" and look up their link to "Supportive Care Program." If you're recently diagnosed with cancer, going through chemo, or just trying to recover after cancer treatment, this is a wonderful resource you should know about.
