Palo Alto Farmer's Market Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Original post made by Lauren John, Professorville, on Jun 15, 2006

On Saturday, June 17th, the Palo Alto Farmer's Market will celebrate its 25th anniversary with free birthday cakes, music by Four Shillings Short, a speech by Palo Alto mayor Judy Kleinberg and recognition of our farmer's--many of whom have been selling at the market for the entire 25 years.
The Farmer's Market is a nonprofit organization, which donates revenues from market space rentals to the Avenidas Senior Center in downtown Palo Alto--all in all a "win-win" for the farmers (who get low priced rental space, Palo Alto seniors, who get funding for Avenidas programs, and for all of us shoppers who enjoy the opportunity to buy fresh farm grown fruits and vegetables, fish caught off the boat from Half Moon Bay, artisan cheeses and jams, honey, lavender, flowers...and more.
The birthday cakes will be baked by Esther's German bakery and the Panorama bakery.
Market opens at eight and continues until noon.
It is located adjacent to the downtown Palo Alto Post Office, bordering Hamilton, Gilman and Forest Streets.
