Palo Alto National defeated Alpine/West Menlo, 3-2, on Tuesday night in the challenge championship game of the District 52 Majors 11-12 All-Star Tournament at Middlefield Ballpark. Palo Alto now advances to the Section 3 Tournament, which begins Thursday night at Middlefield. PA National will play Newark on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The 10-11 All-Stars hung on to win last night in their Region 3 tournament, beating Danville 11-10 in a game that came down to the wire. Unlike the first three games of the District 52 tournament, this time P.A. National jumped out in front, then almost let the other team perform the last-minute heroics so familiar to PAN fans!
Their games are certainly entertaining, if nothing else. They play again tonight in Fremont at 5:30PM.
I suppose it's understandable that the 11-12 team is the main story, since they're playing here in town. But it's a bit disheartening to see the sparse coverage of the 10-11s, given what they've accomplished.
By the way, the story says that Owen Lewis hit the line drive to spark the rally in the 5th, but that's not accurate -- it was Clay Carey (yes, he's my nephew). Owen did some great things in the game, but that hit was Clay's.
