Great Night for Palo Alto National Little League!

Original post made by Theresa Carey, Crescent Park, on Jul 25, 2006

Over in Fremont, the 10-11s dug down deep and managed to beat Northgate/Manteca, 7-6, in 7 innings with one of their patented come-from-behind last-minute victories. Kirby Gee drove in the game-winning RBI with 2 outs in extra innings.

In Palo Alto, the 11-12s hung on to beat Danville, 10-8, in only 6 innings of play. It took Palo Alto 11 innings to defeat Danville on Saturday in a marathon game with the final score of 23-22.

These victories meant that both the 10-11s and the 11-12s go on to the next round of the playoffs -- the NorCal Division tournaments.
The 10-11s kick off the third round of the post-season in Albany on Thursday night at 5:30PM. The 11-12s move up to Corte Madera on Thursday night.

There are only six Section champions left in each age group, each representing the last team standing after District playoffs of 12-17 teams, and Region playoff of 5-6 teams. Each Section champion is the lone team standing among 60-75 teams at the start of the All-Star seasion. Having two teams still playing at this level is an amazing accomplishment.

More details to come. Congratulations to both teams!

The Palo Alto National 11-12 all-stars actually open Friday in Corte Madera at 5:30 p.m., not Thursday. Palo Alto will play a team from the Sacramento area. The tournaments are pool play, and not double-elimination. Palo Alto (11-12) will play again on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Santa Clara Briarwood, the District 44 champion. After playing two games, the top two teams in each pool will advance to the semifinals. Should Palo Alto win twice, it will play Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The two winners from Tuesday play for the title (winner take all) on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. The field in Corte Madera is located at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Alexander Avenue.

If you're interested in following the All-Stars and their progress in the NorCal tournaments, check out these websites.

11-12s -- NorCal division 2 official tournament site: Web Link

10-11s -- California District 4 Tournament resources (District 4 is hosting the NorCal Division 2 tournament for this age group). Click on the link and then click on "10-11 Year Old BB Schedule." This site is pretty confusing! The Schedule page leads you to download a .PDF with the schedule. Web Link

For directions to the 10-11 site, you'll have to click on the second link on the District 4 page, "10-11 Year Old BB Division II Letter." Not exactly obvious.

Best wishes to both PA National All-Star Teams!

Congratulations to the 2007 6th Grade Terman Basketball A team for finishing second in their regular season play division.

They advanced in the playoff season last evening by defeating Cunha school from Half Moon Bay.

Best of luck this evening as they play Borel in San Mateo in the semi finals.
