Again we see a corporate leader who has fallen on extraordinarily good luck. HP is doing well, not due to anything Mark Hurd has done - he's only been there a year, and any successes in the market or partnership resonance has been a result of second-line and director-level smarts and execution.
So, Hurd gets up in front of an audience, makes a few jokes, and gets on with talking about the recent climb in HP success as if it's part and parcel of his short tenure at HP.
I hope the California State DA is focusing on Hurd, as his current directors surely won't, because he was recently rewarded with a promotion to Charman of the Board, in addition to his cuurent CEO moniker. So now, he controls the board. Nice work, Mr. Hurd.
