I'm excited about the Niners moving. I'm thinking of getting on the season ticket list. All I can say is that Candlestick is a dump, and its great to see them get the upgrade they deserve. They have some talent on that team - A. Smith and Gore to name a couple, so hopefully the darkest days are behind them.
Its too bad they aren't moving the stadium to Palo Alto - that would keep this board hopping!

I wish the 49ers would stay up at Candlestick. If they move to Santa Clara, it will just mean more traffic for Palo Alto. Do we really want the masses of working-class Niner fans traipsing through our town? Sunday nights on 101 will be horrible and the traffic will probably spill over onto Middlefield, and the red-light runners there are already all too common.

I thought Niners fans were that "wine and cheese crowd." Think of it this way, Drew...they could be Raiders fans!

John York must have been drinking again. The last time he made a snap decision Mooch was fired. See what happens when you drink kids?

Who cares about professional sports any more? I'd rather see a Paly game, or a Stanford game, any day.
Professional football? What a joke!! Ex-jocks who can barely complete a sentence, hired as sportscasters - all one hears is "wow! that hit really rung his bell!" (uduh!!) - talk about BORING!!!
Then, watching the same sorry plays, over and over and over and over and over again. BORING!!!
btw, I used to love moet professional sports, but they're all so overblown and full of themselves that they have lost their relevance. It's like watching Brittany Spears do her act - BORING, HALF-BAKED, and SAD!

This brings up a question. Why can't we in the modern era build stadiums that will last more then 40+ years? I'm thinking of Stanford stadium, Candlestick, etc ...
The Roman Coliseum was used for 500 years and has lasted 2,000 years.

The professional sport stadiums need to be where the money is, namely, corporate boxes. So moving to Santa Clara is a good idea.
SF should develop the Candlestick Point area with luxury housing and shopping and gentrify the nearby area.
Better to have the traffic mess at 237 and 101 :-)
