Palo Alto football has to wait for state

Original post made by Football Fan, Midtown, on Dec 9, 2006

The Palo Alto High football team evidently will have to wait until Sunday to find out if it receives the Northern California Division II berth for the first-ever state playoffs.
Paly's rival for the berth, Novato, reportedly won the North Coast Section D-2 title with a 48-3 win over Miramonte on Saturday in Oakland.
Novato is now 12-1, the same record Palo Alto has. In its three section playoff games, Novato outscored its opposition 163-3.
While Novato did play in a weaker section than Palo Alto did, there is no clear-cut decision at this time. Palo Alto will have to wait until Sunday at 3 p.m., when 10 section commissioners cast their vote.
There will be three state championship games played in Carson on Dec. 16. Palo Alto is hoping to be playing for the D-2 title.
