Hit and run - Did you see a fender bender today?

Original post made by Palo Alto Driver, Green Acres, on Jan 21, 2007

Today at about 5:25pm, an Asian woman in a white Toyota Corolla rear ended my Volvo station wagon while I was stopped in the left turn lane on El Camino to turn onto San Antonio.

There was no way to pull over, so I motioned to the parking lot at Sears, and just after we turned left, I pulled in. The woman then sped away.

If someone brings in a white Toyota Corolla (fairly recent model I think) with (probably minor) front bumper damage, please report it to the police, the driver may be the hit and run driver who hit me today. If you witnessed the fender bender on El Camino this afternoon, please report it to the Los Altos police, which is where I will file the complaint.

Since no one added a comment, maybe no one saw this, but just in case, I thought I should follow up.

I called the police immediately when I pulled in, but while I was on the phone, I walked to the back of the car and saw there was no discernible damage, so I didn't want to send them on a chase. I did however start to get worrisome back pain because of the jarring, but it was gone by the next day. So, no real damage, but the woman who hit me could not have known that that when she sped off -- so at the very least, she committed a misdemeanor, from what I gather from the police. Since I am a woman, was not acting angry, and was alone, she had no reason from a self-defense standpoint not to stop as is legally, imagine if she caused a worse accident.
