Daylight Savings Time - too early for families

Original post made by Parent, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Mar 13, 2007

I am having problems with summeritis. My kids think it is summer what with the weather and staying light til past 7.00. They don't want to come in to eat dinner until its dark and then they don't start homework til too late. It makes bedtime rushed and they can't sleep because they are too hot!! Then it is dark when they have to get up and still not light when they are leaving for school.

The powers that be may think that this is saving energy, but tell that to the kids!!

To me daylight saving time means it is light in the evening so I can ride my bike from Milpitas at 6:00 p.m. and still make it home before the sun sets. When I was a kid I would not have come in after it turned dark either, that was prime hide and seek time with the neighborhood kids. ;^)
