parking tickets

Original post made by terri, Palo Alto Orchards, on May 29, 2007

Why is it that one will get a ticket for parking downtown for more than 2 hrs. in one place, but everyday there are dozens of cars on El Camino using the street as a car lot? I respect the police, however, the cars along El Camino could be ticketed and bring more revenue to the city.

It may be that it is a state highway and not under the jurisdiction of Palo Alto.

No no no..I have been ticketed for parking my car on El Camino a few years ago...I'm guilty, I was trying to sell my car quickly..I was informed that it is against the code here in Palo Alto to DISPLAY a FOR SALE sign on your car...ANYWHERE IN PALO ALTO........(Someone please look this up and let me know if this is still on the books here........) As I remembered, the fine for parking and displaying the sign cost me $25 back then. Currently, I see random times when the Police ticket cars that are out there on El Camino (across from Palo Alto High School)..........
