Palo Alto seeks fed $$ for fiber, police, streets

Palo Alto officials have identified 10 projects that they feel stand a good chance of getting federal "stimulus" funds from a new Obama administration.

So how come there isn't a list in the article showing what DID get on to the top 10 and what didn't?

Any sense if there's any pork in these requests that could cause the whole set to be rejected?

So our fair city council spends taxpayers' money poorly ($250,000 for a consultant to look into which garbage company we should appoint, $150,000 for a consultant to advise on our future composting policy, as just two examples of unnecessary spending--existing committees could easily have done the work for free)and now we're going to ask the new administration for bailout money??!! That money should be going to impoverished, depressed areas within the U.S.--not to affluent cities like Palo Alto, whose priority includes "eating right" (Diana Diamond, Daily Post of yesterday, Jan. 11)
