Hundreds volunteer during 'MLK Day of Service'

Palo Alto area residents turned out by the hundreds yesterday and today to volunteer as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service.

If ever I become famous and someone wants to have a day to honor me, I would like it to be a day of service just like this. It wouldn't really please me that much to have marches in my honor and lots of speeches every year just like the ones last year, but a day when people who may never volunteer any other day of the year do so on my day.

I feel sure that MLK would be honored by this tribute. Thank you.
