I like Roddy's innovative thinking. I'm glad that she and the Channing House community are working to benefit the neighborhood and Palo Alto. This could definitely catch on in the area!

This, and other car sharing options, is definitely going to be a big trend in the future. I already know of two couples who are neighbors who actually share a car and it works very well for them. It may take a while to catch on everywhere, but somewhere like this is a very good place to start.

Many thanks to Ms. Roddy for helping to reduce pollution and global warming!

Will there be any special driver training or driving tests before renting out these cars to infrequent senior citizen drivers?

No thank you; I walk everywhere, to the grocery story, to the park, to the library and to the Cubberley Community Centre. Very soon I'll be able to walk to the Campus for Jewish Life, whether that's an advantage remains to be seen!!! Thanks but no thanks!!!

Thanks to everyone who has written in to support this ZipCar idea! If you want to be listed with ZipCar as an interested participant, or just want more information, please email me at lroddy@channinghouse.org. We need 25 supporters to indicate their interest to ZipCar in order for them to consider us as a ZipCar site.
Spread the word! and thanks again,

As someone visiting the area from Boston and choosing whether to rent a car for my stay, I found this article while looking for Zipcars to use instead. It's an encouraging sign that you're trying again. Ideal for me would be a zipcar that sits at the caltrain stop.
Best of luck with it!
