A friend of mine just called to ask me if I heard anything. She was at Hoover Park when it happened. Apparently, it took place at Hoover on Cowper. A very large group of 7th and 8th graders were there. And there were 2 fights between some 8th graders. I don't know if it was just JLS students or JLS and Jordan. It was talked about ahead of time amongst the students- because many studetns knew that it was going to take place, and went over to Hoover to watch it. The police were called and came and that is all I know. I think that parents should help our kids understand that the bystanders are just as responsible as those fighting. Hopefully no one got hurt. But it is very easy for this type of situation to escalate. I also hope that the middle school administrators will take this seriously and discuss it with the students.

Although the police and very concerned soccer moms might disagree, the students have the right to REP THEIR TURF, and defend each other against harassment from rival middle schools. Also being noted, kids will always fight. Jordan on mommas

The kids involved (this is what I heard) were from JLS, Jordan, and Terman. The fight was between a few eighth graders, but that was all. The police came, and from all the people who told me, I heard they DROVE ACROSS THE GRASS... everyone ran for cover. Again, I heard no variations from any of the people who told me.

Our enviroment is to goody good, kids in palo alto wouldnt stand a chance in a harder town. Its good they had a little fight. they sent the whole police fleet on us. There was about 10 cop cars there, when nothing much was even going on. There was about 3 on the grass and they snuck up on us, then when they turned on the sirens everyone fleed the scene. Why cant the cops use their time better instead of sending a whole squad on some kids.

Are you serious? Who cares if some kids got in a fight? In any other neighborhood that happens all the time... but these people here have nothing better to do than micromanage there kids lives! Give me a break and why don't the police start trying to solve actual crimes, instead of taking ten police cars to break up a fight between some kids? I mean what kind of society is this?

Wow...this is all overblown. I'd barely call it a fight and this is all way to overboard.

Solve some real crime, these police officers don't do anything... comeon! A fight between some kids!? WHO CARES? If they were honestly scared they wouldn't have gone to Hoover... so get a life and stop worrying about dumb stuff, and care about stuff that needs your time.

It was crazy! 50 people fought because of some gang related thing and one guy almost busted a cap in a jordan kid's behind.

I wish I was there, and brought a friend to hold my video camera while I interviewed the fighters and the watchers, as well as to record the fight. And the police should have more to worry about then a "no punching, no kicking" fight between some middle schoolers. If fights started happening more and became more serious, I don't think I would like it, but seriously. Go use the police cars to help out in stopping gang fights in EPA or something.

middle school kids fighting, big deal. They are kids. How bad could it get? We live in Palo Alto ladies and gentlemen, wake up and smell the roses. We are in a community where everyone wins, nobodys a loser.
