The positive things that happened through the power outage

Original post made by Resident, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2010

Too many negative threads. This is a positive thread to encourage us about the good things that happened yesterday.

I saw neighbors chatting to each other, helping each other, people taking time to smell the roses and smiling.

There were kids playing outside, school crossing guards directing traffic, people checking on elderly neighbors, sharing camping stoves and getting prepared with lanterns.

The CANS emergency communication worked well and by all accounts the PAPD and PAFD worked amazingly.

If you heard or did anything positive, share it here. If you want to make constructive criticisms, go to one of the other threads.

Plenty of people cleaned their houses or those junk drawers they have been intending to clean out. Interesting how much free time we have when we can't use the computer or television. I thought it was a rather pleasant experience yesterday.
