Closing of the IMC

To Rachel Metz or to whom it may concern,

Back in 2004 the Palo Alto Weekly ran an article written by Rachel Metz about teacher resources and in particular the IMC (the Instructional Materials Center) which is based in a portable building just within the Palo Alto high school campus.

Perhaps it is time to bring PA Weekly readers, especially school district teachers and parents, an update on the IMC because in three days time it will be closing it's doors for good and it's contents may well be disbursed as a budget saving measure!

As your 2004 article described, the IMC is a treasure trove of collected artifacts of all kinds that are specifically related to the school curriculum. So far there seems to be no plan to warehouse these items so that they are not lost and scattered. Let's hope and pray that the powers that be, have the good sense to keep these collections in one place so they can be used by all schools in the district, in the hopefully, near future!

I think this would be a great opportunity for some investigative journalism but it is urgent as the dealine is this Wednesday, June 16th I believe!
