Where are the details for PALY baseball? They are Division 1 !!! They advanced to the
semifinals of the CCS too!

I am officially tired of Keith Peter's infatuation with all things Menlo. Paly accomplishes the exact same thing, in Div 1, yet Keith thinks the news is Menlo. Menlo, a Division 3 team that was thoroughly pounded by Paly 14-7 during the regular season. Let's guess - where was Keith - at the Menlo game, not the Paly game.

The Daily News and John Reid were at the Paly game, capturing photos, interviewing players, writing an article - being a journalist and representing the City of Palo Alto. Keith is too busy writing about Stanford, Menlo School, Sacred Heart and Castilleja. We should call this paper the 'South Bay Private School Gazette'

For gods sake, just ask the Paly Viking to write an article and reprint it. It would be lazy, but it would be better than how you handles things presently.

Actually, I was at the CCS swim finals. We had no one at either the Paly or Menlo games. The Menlo coach submitted information, the Paly coach did not. We don't have the staff to be at every game.

To PalyDad - I know you are frustrated by the perceived lack of coverage, but please don't stoop to crying about it in public. Let's leave that to the other schools. In the end, Paly does get plenty of coverage, because the programs are so outstanding. Keith Peters has never taken sides on these things, and has always been more than fair.

I attended the SHCP vs Menlo game. There was a hit from SH in the first inning, but they chose to rule it as an error for Menlo instead. When the ball is hit so hard it pops out the ss glove, it's a hit! With the way the game was being called, the Irish were never given a fair shot.

I was also at the game, and I don't see how an umpire can unfairly call a swing through strike, and SHC had an unbelievable amount of swing throughs. SHC was not given a fair chance by the absolute dominance of Menlo's starter.

To blame a 10-0 win on the umpires is naïve, and disrespectful to the effort of Menlo's players

This writer was not at the game, as pointed out by a Paly Dad before the writer added details. How could this writer know what happened if he wasn't there?

I've coached at both Paly and Gunn and always made a point of emailing results and highlights to all of the local papers (PA Weekly, PA Daily, SJ Mercury). One of my personal goals was to get each player's name in the paper every season. I wasn't always successful but I gave it a shot.

I would include JV results and highlights as well; sometimes they need to fill space, and having the information was key to getting coverage. I know there aren't enough reporters available to attend every contest, so I did what I could to help.

Most of the time, the contents of my emails were copied verbatim in the PA Daily, and slightly reworded for the PA Weekly. The Mercury would list results and stat leaders.

Coaches really have to put on a PR hat to get their teams covered (except for football and boys' basketball). That's just the way it is, even at the collegiate level.

About the Menlo/SH game, I never said in my comment that I blamed the umpires for the loss. The Menlo team played great, I simply was pointing out that the calls were not going both ways. I am taking nothing away from Menlo, they played great and I wish them luck in the game today. Please people, stop taking everything so personal.
