When the police car arrived, I began to approach the two officers to try and give them advice on how they should approach the victim (this is my line of work.) The officers walked passed me and ran straight towards the victim. I am not sure what their practice is, but the male officer stopped in his tracks as the lady officer pulled the victim into her arms. She repeatedly told the victim "your safe", and "I'm here to take care of you." The victim was hesitant, but eventually the female officer was able to coax her into her arms, while her male officer appeared to be alerting other officers. I couldn't believe it. The sight was amazing watching this little female officer hugging this grown victim until she was calm enough to talk. Palo Alto PD, I am proud to know that if any of my family or friends needed help, you will be the ones to respond. I am sure you don't hear this much, but thank you! Please be safe, we need you.

Nice to see a positive posting about PAPD, although the headline should have been more descriptive. From the headline, I thought it was going to be the typical PAPD-bashing again from behind the computer - the same people who are relieved to see PAPD when they need help. I have always found PAPD to be extremely professional and am grateful to all law enforcement for risking their lives for us.

This is a great story. This is the kind of Community Policing that was best illustrated by John Costa before he retired. It is great to hear about this wonderful dedication to service that is illustrated by this story. It is a new day for the Palo Alto police.
