You would be much better off if you went directly to your police department. Confronting any type of criminal can be very dangerous.

I am not sure how the law works, but there's something about a purebred dog not being returned to its owner which might make it a greater crime.

Seriously, do to the police for help - you don't want anything to happen to your beloved pet.

Once some kid took one of our dogs in Menlo and tried to *sell* him back to my bad. My dad just said a few choice words & took our dog - but this wasn't a teen so he was easier to intimidate.

Stealing someone's dog is pretty low.

I'd be really upset just to have my dog missing.

If these people are playing games with you, me and my dog will personally go down there with you and I guarantee we get your dog back. I'm 100% serious too. What a bunch of scumbags

This doesn't sound like theft. More like the dog was lost and someone found it and looked after it. They may have tried to find the owner but were unable to.
As long as the dog was chipped there shouldn't be any trouble in establishing ownership.

Thanks for your kindness. Chris was back to where he belong.

There was dog tag, microchip in the dog, so there is no reason not to locate the owner. It was also reported to the Palo Alto Animal Services and Peninsula Human Society. Flyers in the neighborhood, pet shops, groomers, vet within the 15 miles.

The teens got the dog and have the nerve to call me and play with me but yet did not give me their numbers and hang up multiple times. Until they got loose and did not remember to block the number. I manage to call them back and they were shocked. They did text me "xyz" language on my phone but the calls stopped.

Then the mom of the teen was so attached to the dog, she did not want to give up the dog until the police called. I did go down there with a couple friends to get Chris back. We are united and thanks for all the leads and help from friends. The full page ad in the Palo Alto Weekely (8/10) helped to bring the leads in. Thank you for all your help.

Monica Arima - I am soooo glad for you! Chris is just gorgeous & must be very happy. What a wonderful relief. How selfish that these people were so attached to the dog they couldn't give him up - & the adult was the instigator.

Sparty - love your dog! We have several that look similar but are convinced they're lap dogs - & that's why we can sleep w/the windows open on a hot night.

How sick of those teens to taunt you, rather than immediately returning Chris. And for the mother to wanted to keep him; what an irresponsible message to give to her kids. Too bad they all didn't receive a big slap on the wrist or fine for what should be illegal acts.
