Living and working and studying and visiting on or around the Stanford Campus these past years has become very stressful due to constant trucks, construction, renovations for both required reasons like seismic upgrades and non-emergent reasons like rec-plex's and the new campus-wide energy system.
The surrounding traffic has included convoys of dirt carrying trucks to and from campus, and on-campus traffic has included closed and rerouted streets along with trucks and many many construction workers vehicles, both personal and company owned. The inability to even make it through the traffic lights entering campus due to these trucks is maddening.
The stress is significant. I have not seen one article written about this added and continued stress, or seen any offers of support for dealing with it.

This temporary helipad is of course needed, but it is one more thing to add to an already over burdened campus. The number of projects occurring on campus at one time, and the pace of one happening right after the other is not making a peaceful farm-like feeling any more.

I hope the temp helipad works smoothly for the patients and hospital personnel involved.

I implore the Stanford leadership who are making these construction decisions to address the effects of a stressful anxiety-producing work/living/studying environment for its employees, residents and students.

Completely agree with the first poster! The traffic around the hospital and campus is ridiculous! There have Been numeous accidents invoking cars and bikes, to the point cyclists don't even Boyer reporting it. The leadership has no pad any attention to anyone. Case in point Parking &transport came to my department to is us the traffic issues. NOT A SINGLE SUGGESTION MADE AT THAT MEETING WAS IMPEMENTED. That's just typical Stanford.

And what's up with the left turn traffic light off Quarry rd onto El Camino? Letting three cars turn left a a time when the Camus s emptying is absurd!

I agree with Neighbor. All of Palo Alto and Stanford seems to be torn up. The building that is going on is never ending and relentless. This town is becoming a nightmare. Roads being dug up and blocked, huge trucks rumbling down our roads spewing carbon monoxide fumes and noise, and massive, ugly oversized development. Palo Alto has changed drastically in the last 5 years. And not for the better. The city even allows noisy construction on Saturdays. The city needs to put a time limit on how long a construction project can go on, and also stop allowing construction noise on Saturdays. And what about coordination of road work. The city tears up, repairs, and then tears up the same road, over and over again.

I worked on campus for eleven years. I was required to work most Saturdays and a few Sundays. Fridays thru Sundays it often took 40 minutes to get to work due to heavy traffic on Alma and then narrowed roads and slow-moving construction traffic. Getting home was even worse, closer to an hour to get off campus. If there was a football game on a Saturday, it became close to two hours. I only lived three miles from work!
Even Tuesdays thru Sundays took half an hour to go those three miles.

No sooner would one or two projects end, another two or three began. The frustration over this never-ending traffic-construction-detour-parkingl lot-road block-dustbowl-noise pollution chaos was not worth the pay. I now work much farther from home, but get there in the same amount of time if not less!
