I'd be more impressed if it was a baseball themed hotel honoring former Pirates outfielder Roberto Clemente...

This hotel is another sad and shameful commentary on the city council of Palo Alto approving a project of a developer or business catering to an "elite" class of people be they residents or visitors on business or pleasure who can afford such ultra high prices. The land next to a medical clinic would be better suited for use that would benefit the community including those who cannot afford such luxury and indulgences even though it provides the city with tax revenue benefits.

This is good to hear. We will be getting some serious property tax revenues from such 'exclusive' investments. This contrasts with the de rigueur demands for 'inclusive' projects like subsidized housing, and the current demands for taxpayer monies to be spent on BV.

Better watch what you wish for, Laughton -- if Shallow Alto becomes any more "exclusive," you might end up getting shipped to Hemet. Because, after all, you may not fit the profile of "exclusive"...

I would like to commend Clement Chen for being entrepreneurial and adding value to Palo Alto.

So what? He is doing something good for himself and for Palo Alto. I think we need more ego in this town. I find it easy to see through false humility (and guilt)...which is way too abundant around here.

With other hotels in the area often going for more than $500/night, $1,000 does not seem outlandish.
